The parents collected the Assessment Report from school, maintaining physical distance norms, as directed by the Government for COVID-19.

Holy Eucharist and Prayer Service

The Commission for the Differently Abled, Archdiocese of Bangalore organized a special Holy Eucharist Celebration for the Special Children at PalanaBhavan. The Holy Mass was offered by Most Rev. Archbishop Dr.Peter Machado. One of our students, Peter Cherukara, got an opportunity to read the intention during the Holy Mass.

A Special Prayer Service for the Differently Abled

The Commission for the Differently Abled, Archdiocese of Bangalore conducted a Prayer Service for the Special Children. Our Principal Sr. Madhuja gave a talk on the hidden potentials of the Special Children. One of our parents, Honoria’s mother spoke about her experiences of journeying with her special child. It was indeed a wonderful Prayer Service.

Awareness Programme on PWD (Persons with Disability Act 2016)

Mr.Kantharaju, Women and Child Welfare Officer, organized a conference to bring awareness on P.W.D Act 2016, at K.A.S.Officers Association, Bengaluru. The resource persons briefed the audience regarding the various divisions of the Act. The spokespersons included Dr. V. Muniraju, the Director of Empowerment Department of Disabled, Mr. K.C. Gadkari, Secretary of KPAMRC and Mr. V. S. Basavaraju, Commissioner for the Persons with disabilities in Karnataka. It was an informative and an educative session for the gathering.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)

BREAKING THE BARRIER TO REACH THE HORIZON Sophia Opportunity School partnered with the Interact Club of Sophia High School and staged a virtual assembly on December 3 rd 2020, with the above theme. The virtual assembly was globally staged, which was aired line on YouTube at 9:00a.m. The guest speaker was Fr. Joseph Royan, CSSR and our Principals Sr. Madhuja and Sr. Alpana, delivered their speech that helped stir awareness of the present situation. Ever so grateful to all those who helped, raise such a platform, during this pandemic. All glory and honor to God our father!

Coloring and Drawing Competition

Aashritha Foundation organized a coloring and drawing competition with the theme NATURE. Fifteen of our students participated, six students received their winner e-certificate and nine of them received their participant E-certificate.

Solo Dance, Essay and Art and Craft

Aashritha foundation organized the above mentioned competitions for the Specially Abled children on 15th  January 2021. Essay writing competition was organized for the students of the age group 14-18 years. The topic given was, ‘Changes and Challenges during COVID-19’. The students were asked to take a photograph of the written essay and posts. Eight students participated, five received their winner e-certificate and three received their participant e-certificate.

QUIZABLED- KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL

Quiz bled is a unique and special quiz competition exclusively for children with disabilities. Six of our students participated in the online quiz. On 23rd of January. The quiz consisted of 20 multiple choice questions with a time limit of 40 minutes.




Holy Eucharist on the Opening of the Golden Jubilee Year

‘50 Golden Years of Gratitude – 1972 -2022’
Looking back with joy and looking forward with hope, on the occasion of Sophia Day, Sophia Opportunity School joined hands to mark the dawn of the Jubilee Year, through the Holy Eucharist Celebration, in the Duchense hall, at 7:00a.m.The Holy Mass was offered by Most Reverend Archbishop Dr.Peter Machado along with concelebrants Rev.Fr.George, the Secretary of the Commission for the Differently Abled, Rev.Fr.WilliamSequera, a Jesuit Priest and Rev.Fr. DivyaYesuBalan, the Secretary to the Archbishop. Due to the present pandemic, we had a restricted crowd that included the entire Provincial House Community, a few students’ representatives with their parents, Staff from all the sections of Sophia High School, Parent Teacher Association, Notre Dame Associates, Past Teachers and Well-wishers. By God’s ever abiding presence and blessings everything went well.

Virtual Assembly on the dawn of the Golden Jubilee Year

‘TELL OUT MY SOUL, THE GLORIES OF THE RISEN LORD’
February 2nd, on the occasion of Sophia Day, during the Sophia Day virtual Prayer assembly, the unveiling of the Golden Jubilee Logo also took place. The logo was unveiled by Sr. Chetana, the Provincial Superior and Sr. Madhuja, our Principal. The logo was designed by our dearest sisters of Notre Dame, through an elaborate democratic process where ideas were sought by the entire staff of Sophia Opportunity School. The assembly also portrayed 50 representatives holding burning candles in the hands which symbolized the light of Christ. The light kindled at Sophia Opportunity School hath shone unto many.

Purchase of a New Vehicle

We at Sophia Opportunity School rejoice and thank God for this awesome gift, a four wheeler to our school. To mark the Golden Jubilee Year of Sophia Opportunity School, Bharat Society gifted a four wheeler named Force (Toofan).
