Julie Day- 2018

St. Julie’s Day marks the birth of this wonderful smiling Saint & the foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame. An outstanding prayer assembly was conducted by the children of the Opportunity section at the Sophia auditorium. This occasion was graced by our chief guest Most Reverend Doctor Bernard Moras, the Archbishop of Bangalore Diocese.
The celebration began with the felicitation of our chief guest followed by a prayer song and prayer dance to invoke the presence of God. This was followed by a beautiful enactment on the life of St. Julie which had a small dance presented by our tiny tots. Disability Day - 2018

THE GREATEST DAY EVER…. IN SOPHIA HISTORY!
“Every child is a different kind of flower! And, all together, they make the world a beautiful garden!”
Is the quote with which the day began, 8th December, 2017 the III Annual World dis-Ability Day celebration at Sophia Opportunity School. UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) proclaimed 1981 as the International year of Dis-Abled Persons. In honour of this year, every 3rd of December is remembered as World dis-Ability Day.
Sophia Opportunity School celebrates this World dis-Ability Day with great zeal, in a different way every year. This year we extended our hands wider to celebrate it with other schools (with/in) a “cultural Fest”. Invites went out to different schools across Bangalore city, five schools namely Christ Special School, Baldwin Opportunity School, Shristi Special Academy, Umeed Asha Kiran School and FAME- Foundation for Action and Empowerment India respectively stepped forward to join hands with us to be a part of this ‘Cultural Fest’
The inauguration commenced with Sr. Sandhya, Provincial Superior of the Visitation Province as the Chief Guest. A prayer service was conducted by the special students followed by the Cultural Fest. The category of competition were Folk Dance, Seniors and Juniors group singing and yoga, colouring for juniors and drawing for seniors respectively. No competition is complete without a panel of esteemed judges, each category had two judges, who took time to assess every child and come to a fair conclusion.
All of these in HARMONY, with the power of the Almighty God, enabled us to make this day a landmark in the History of Sophia. He who began this good work in us, brought this day to a victorious completion with the theme song. Sophia witnessed ‘the one song’ dedicated to all the Special children in the World. The special children and the Main stream school choir, representatives from Barat, Julie, Cuvilly, Mater and Duschene buildings united hands and sang aloud “We Are One”! It was a real proud moment for us at Sophia and we felt even proud when all the five participating schools joined us on stage.
“May the power of this new perspective, that began a lowest level, take us to heights of success for His glory”!
